According to Picasso, “Good artists copy; great artists steal.” What do you think? We will look briefly at notions of intellectual property and textual “borrowings” when the text is not a written document and images are so widely circulated thanks to the internet and social media. We will look at the work of some contemporary artists (including Beyoncé). But we will reserve time for participation and debate—and maybe even the chance to make your own “stolen” performances.
